Family-lore says James was a cabinetmaker and this is confirmed by census.

In 1861 Ruth is living at Penn St, St Pauls, Bristol with youngest daughter Lavinia. She is calling herself Rose and is described as a seamstress, which is presumably where (Ruth) Jane acquired the skill. Lavinia will later be used for my Nan's name

We can safely assume this is James, son of James and Ruth and not son of Thomas and Joan as he does not appear in the 1841 census with James and Ruth.

James cousin (Son of Thomas) was also call James William Henry !!
